Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The COVID-19 Task Force (Satgas) reported that 58,537,731 people had received booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine after experiencing an increase of 319,300 until Saturday at 12.00 WIB.
According to data from the Task Force that ANTARA received in Jakarta, Saturday, the addition also occurred in the second (complete) dose. A total of 170,485,151 people have received it, after an increase of 52,505 from the previous day.
Then the recipients of the first dose also increased by 57,419 people. Thus, the total number of recipients has reached 202,949,315 people.
The Task Force stated that 234,666,020 Indonesian citizens were targeted to be recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine, which can form antibodies and minimize transmission of the virus.
Spokesman for the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, said that the antibodies that people already have do not mean they protect themselves from transmission.
Prevention by implementing health protocols (prokes) in the form of wearing masks, washing hands, keeping a distance, including getting the COVID-19 vaccine, still has to be done.
He also asked those who have not completed the dose of the COVID-19 vaccine up to the booster to immediately go to the nearest health facility so that transmission can be suppressed.
“We have to keep working, and keep in mind that residents with increased doses of vaccines have higher antibody levels than residents with fixed doses of vaccines,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
