Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Acting Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Elen Setiadi, S.H, M.S.E together with the Head of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) Team of South Sumatra, Melza Elen Setiadi attended the opening of the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) in 2024 at the Harapan Bangsa Stadium (SHB), Lhong Raya, Banda Aceh, Monday (9/9/2024) evening.
PON XXI was opened directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, in his remarks he conveyed to the regional government and all the people of Aceh who were the hosts of the opening of PON XXI.
The President said that PON is an event to produce more of the nation’s best athletes, world record breakers and potential gold medal winners at the Asian Games, Sea Games and at the Olympics.
In addition, PON is also an event to further strengthen unity and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood as a nation.
The President advised all athletes to uphold sportsmanship and fair play.
President Jokowi invites all parties to celebrate the 21st National Sports Week with a spirit of togetherness, sportsmanship and joy, to carve out achievements that make the country proud. (ojn/ril)
