Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Acting (Pj) Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Agus Fatoni is synergizing with the Quarantine Center in increasing export and import activities of agricultural, plantation, fisheries and livestock commodities in South Sumatra Province.
This was expressed by receiving an audience from the Head of the South Sumatra Province Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Center, Kostan Manalu, and staff at Griya Agung, Palembang, South Sumatra, Tuesday (19/3/2024). On this occasion, Fatoni welcomed the Quarantine Center’s wish that South Sumatra Province immediately have a deep sea port.
The South Sumatra Provincial Government claims to be ready to facilitate the realization of the port as a form of support for community activities in various sectors. “The presence of this port will indeed encourage convenience and increase exports and imports of agricultural products and other commodities from South Sumatra Province,” he said. The South Sumatra Provincial Government has synergized with the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation to accelerate the realization of the development of a deep sea port, namely Tanjung Carat Port.
So far, South Sumatra Province’s import and export activities have been carried out from nearby areas. Fatoni was also grateful for the central government’s high level of attention to infrastructure and transportation development in South Sumatra Province.
“In principle, we are ready to support the acceleration of port development in South Sumatra Province, considering that in the future the impact will be very good on trade traffic in South Sumatra. “Then, significant economic growth will also certainly occur,” said Fatoni.
On the same occasion, the Head of the South Sumatra Quarantine Center, Kostan Manalu, said that his visit with his staff was also a form of friendship because he had just served in South Sumatra Province.
“Apart from that, it is also in the context of synergy and coordination to increase export and import activities of agricultural, plantation, fishery and livestock commodities in South Sumatra Province,” said Kostan.
This activity was also attended by the Person in Charge of the SMB II Palembang Airport Service Unit Komarudin, Head of the Law Enforcement Work Team Budi Eko Harmanto and Head of the Animal Quarantine Work Team Catur Setiawan. (mhn/ril)
