Condition of Palembang Workers’ Flats is Concerning, Deputy Minister of PKP RI Encourages Conversion and Renovation

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Cik Ujang accompanied the working visit of the Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas of the Republic of Indonesia Fahri Hamzah in order to review the workers’ flats in the Srijaya KM 7 area of ​​Palembang City. Monday, 5/5/2025.

During his review, the Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas of the Republic of Indonesia Fahri Hamzah conveyed to immediately coordinate regarding the transfer of assets and the draft plan of the South Sumatra Provincial Government to convert the function of the workers’ flats into housing for Siti Fatimah Hospital employees and a Shelter for patient families.

This transfer is considering that the workers’ flats building is currently abandoned and concerning.

“I ask the Provincial Government and the hospital director to send a letter sending a proposal from the local government regarding the transfer of the function of this flat, if later it is used as a hospital, please do so but really want it to be functional according to financial capacity and continue, don’t let it stall again,” he explained while reviewing the condition of the poorly maintained flats.

He hopes that the future transfer of the function of the flats can be used properly and correctly according to their designation so that renovations can be carried out immediately on June 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Cik Ujang said that he would immediately provide a letter to the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas of the Republic of Indonesia in order to hand over the transfer of assets and a proposal for the submission of renovation of workers’ flats.

“We will submit a letter first to the Ministry, then what the decision will be like so that we can implement it,” he said.

During the visit, the condition of the building was seen to be abandoned and poorly maintained even though access to the main road is very close and not far from the Siti Fatimah Hospital, South Sumatra Province.
