Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru, attended the Opening of the 2026 Special Olympics Indonesia (SOIna) Regional Championship in South Sumatra which was held at the Hall of the State Special Olympics School (SLB) Pembina Palembang, Thursday (30/4/2026).

“Today is something that seems simple, yet holds special significance. The committee has provided a space for special children to participate in the Olympics. This is a demonstration of shared service in the world of education,” he said in his remarks.

He hopes that through this activity, participants can build the courage to socialize, express their opinions, and demonstrate their skills.

“This isn’t about winning, but rather about connecting with others so they don’t feel alone. They are part of us, with equal opportunities to develop and compete,” he added.
