Governor Ridwan Kamil: Pusdai Mosque provides free takjil/food during the holy month of Ramadan

Bandung, The Indonesia Post – Governor of West Java (Jabar) M Ridwan Kamil said the Pusdai Mosque in Bandung City provides free iftar food every day for travelers and residents who do not have time to break their fast at home.

The food will be donated by the West Java Provincial Government offices.

“Every evening there is a free iftar every day in the Pusdai yard where the food is donated by the agencies for travelers or residents who don’t have time to open their homes because they are stuck in traffic,” said Ridwan Kamil in a press statement, Sunday.

Ridwan Kamil also invites the public to continue to increase the piety index or religiosity of West Java whose momentum is very appropriate in the Holy Month of Ramadan in 2022.

One of them is to increase alms to people who need it.

Ridwan Kamil started the first night of Ramadan with tarawih prayers in congregation with residents at the Pusdai Mosque in Bandung City, Saturday (2/4) night

Public enthusiasm is quite high. Seen from almost the full corner of the Pusdai Mosque.

This is because this year’s Ramadan, the government allows residents to return to performing Tarawih prayers in mosques but by wearing masks.

An atmosphere like this cures Ridwan Kamil’s longing because it has been two years since the fasting month of Ramadan has been limited due to the high number of cases of COVID-19 transmission at that time.

“I miss Ramadan twice, not meeting this kind of atmosphere, I am touched,” he said.

Kang Emil, Ridwan Kamil’s nickname, hopes that COVID-19 will continue to show a downward trend so that the proclamation of changing the pandemic phase to endemic can be carried out in the near future.

“Hopefully, COVID-19 will continue to come down, we are waiting for the proclamation to become endemic this year so that all our activities can return to normal, including worship,” he hoped.

The first tarawih prayer at the Pusdai Mosque, the people who came first were checked for their body temperature.

The use of masks is also mandatory.

Ridwan Kamil hopes that the high enthusiasm of the residents for tarawih prayers at Pusdai and other mosques can be consistent until the last night of this blessed month.

“Hopefully it will be consistent because it is usually crowded at the beginning of tarawih. Hopefully it will be full until the last night of Ramadan,” said Kang Emil.

On behalf of the West Java Provincial Government, Kang Emil wished a happy fasting worship to all West Java residents, more than 90 percent of whom are Muslims.

“I pray that in this holy month his patience will expand, he will pass the test and because this is the month of forgiveness, hopefully the door of Allah’s forgiveness will be wide open to all of us,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
