Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (Ministry of Agriculture SYL) ensured that national rice stock conditions could meet people’s needs until this year’s Eid.
“Everything is showing OK. This means that our rice is safe until the upcoming Eid. At this time the main harvest continues in a number of centers,” he said during a visit to PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya’s rice warehouse in Jakarta, Tuesday.
The certainty of the condition of the rice, said the Minister of Agriculture SYL, was calculated in detail using the KSA BPS, standing crop, regional reports and direct field observations.
Main Director of the Tjipinang Jaya Food Station, Pamrihadi Wiraryo said that the demand for rice for the DKI Jakarta area is safe and abundant. Moreover, the Food Station has just received an overflow of 494 tons of rice from South Sumatra. According to him, that amount of rice will still increase as the main harvest in a number of centers continues.
“Currently, approximately 595 tons or 21 trucks have entered. But God willing, tomorrow it will be poured again or flush again, approximately 50 trucks or the equivalent of 1,000 tons,” Pamrihadi said.
Pamrihadi said that his party was very optimistic about the current condition and availability of rice. Moreover, South Sumatra is entering the harvest season which will last until next April.
“South Sumatra is a region that is currently having a big harvest. We hope to be able to meet the needs of our rice reserves,” he said.
Furthermore Pamrihadi also said that the current condition of rice prices was gradually decreasing. For example, the current price for IR 643 rice has fallen on average from Rp. 10,375 2 weeks ago to Rp. 10,175 per day. He also ensured that the price of medium rice could return to normal at IDR 9,450.
“We want to reduce Rp. 25 every day. So we are grateful to the ranks of the Ministry of Agriculture for this year’s distribution of rice. Once again we are very sure that we have enough rice,” he explained. (mhn/bbs)
