MY Invites Communities to Preserve Local Wisdom

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Mawardi Yahya opened the 2023 National Archipelago Traditional Weapons Exhibition with the theme “Weapon Dynamics, Local Wisdom as a Shield of National Identity”.

MY said the South Sumatra Provincial Government welcomed the choice of South Sumatra as the host of this activity. According to him, this activity can be a very good step in order to maintain the existing culture in the area.

“Indeed it is our joint duty to make the younger generation participate in maintaining the culture in the area. One of them is through this activity,” he said.

According to him, the Central Government needs to be a pioneer in maintaining the existing culture in the region. Where with the existence of certain directives it will definitely be implemented by each Regional Government.

MY said the South Sumatra Provincial Government is committed to supporting cultural activities in South Sumatra. And invites all people to love and preserve indigenous culture, especially in South Sumatra.

Meanwhile, Head of South Sumatra Budpar Office, Dr. H. Aufa Syahrizal, SP, reported that this activity was held on a national scale and was the brainchild of heads of museums throughout Indonesia. Every year each region takes turns to host this exhibition.

“Through the theme of this activity, we hope to present the development of Indonesian weapons as a legacy that needs to be preserved to strengthen national identity,” he said.

Aufa revealed that this activity also involved students so that they would get to know more about the museum. So that they can take part in competitions and see museum collections so that they are educated about museums with their cultural and historical stories.

The exhibition was held for 44 days from 25 July 2023 to 6 September 2023. And was filled with various interesting activities such as workshops, seminars and various competitions.
