Bandung, TheIndonesiaPost – About 21 thousand houses in Bandung regency, West Java, were flooded after heavy rain on Friday (1/5) night.
Flood at least submerged three sub-districts namely; Dayeuhkolot District, Baleendah District, and Bojongsoang District.
Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of Bandung Regency (BPBD) Enjang Wahyudin was quoted by CNNIndonesia said that the highest waterlogging occurred in Baleendah District, with water levels ranging from 20 cm to 220 cm. In this sub-district, there are 7,907 houses, seven schools, and 35 places of worship flooded. flooding and impacted 33,525 residents.
In Dayeuhkolot District, flooding covered Dayeuhkolot Village, Citereup Village, and Pasawahan Village, causing inundations as high as two meters.
Flooding in the Dayeuhkolot Sub-district area caused 7,167 residents’ homes, eight places of worship, 20 schools, and seven public facilities to be inundated and forced 33 families to evacuate.
According to BPBD, the number of residents affected by flooding in the Dayeuhkolot Subdistrict was 26,078 people.
In addition, flooding caused 6,814 houses to be flooded in Bojongsoang District. There were 21,758 residents affected by flooding and no less than 1,710 residents had to be displaced due to flooding.
Flooding also inundated Jalan Raya Banjaran, Jalan Raya Ciparay, and Jalan Raya Dayeuhkolot with height ranging from one to one and a half meters.
Enjang said the BPBD team coordinated with the flood-affected sub-district government to help flood victims and record the impact of the flood.
“BPBD also opened posts in the field and some personnel continued to evacuate residents affected by flooding,” he said (ras/bbs)
