Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, Andie Dinialdie, provided clarification regarding the issue of plans to procure a billiard table at the official residence of the South Sumatra DPRD leadership which has recently attracted public and media attention.
In his statement to journalists, Andie emphasized that the procurement is currently still in the planning stage and has not yet entered the realization or purchasing process.
He appreciated the attention and input from the press regarding the facility procurement plan. He stated that after the news broke, he immediately coordinated with the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) Secretary to obtain a detailed explanation of the plan.
“I would like to thank my media colleagues for their input. Regarding the plan to purchase a billiard table at the official residence of the South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), I have contacted the Council Secretary for clarification,” said Andie.
Andie emphasized that the South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) has not yet purchased any billiard tables. The entire process is still in the initial planning stages.
He explained that the DPRD leadership’s official residence is often used to receive guests in informal settings, including community leaders and sports figures. In addition to serving as Speaker of the South Sumatra DPRD, Andie also serves as Chairman of the South Sumatra chapter of the Indonesian Billiards Association (POBSI).
In this context, the plan to provide billiard facilities was initially considered as a means of supporting non-formal activities, including when receiving guests from athletes and billiard sports communities.
However, Andie emphasized that his office understands the public’s sensitivity to the use of regional funds. Therefore, every procurement plan will be comprehensively reviewed, taking into account urgency, efficiency, and priority of needs.
He assured that the final decision would be taken with public interest and tangible benefits in mind.
“If it is deemed not urgent or does not provide significant benefits, the plan can be reviewed or even cancelled,” he stressed.
Andie also emphasized the South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council’s (DPRD) commitment to maintaining transparency in budget management and remaining open to criticism and suggestions from the public and the media. (mhn/bbs)
