The South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) Secretariat Cancels Procurement of Billiard Tables and Gym Equipment for the 2026 Fiscal Year

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The controversy surrounding the plan to procure two billiard tables worth Rp486.9 million in the 2026 South Sumatra Regional Budget has been officially cancelled by the South Sumatra DPRD Secretariat.

Not only that, the plan to purchase gym equipment for the official residence of Deputy Chairman III of the South Sumatra DPRD, Ilyas Panji Alam, with a budget of IDR 395 million was also stopped.

The cancellation was made after public scrutiny emerged regarding the planned use of the budget, which was previously listed in the General Procurement Planning Information System (SIRUP) belonging to the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) as of March 7, 2026.

Based on the listed data, the procurement of billiard tables was initially allocated for the official residence of the Chairman of the South Sumatra DPRD amounting to Rp. 151 million and for the official residence of Deputy Chairman III amounting to Rp. 335.9 million, so that the total budget prepared reached Rp. 486.9 million.

The Speaker of the South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Andie Dinialdie, stated that he had asked the DPRD Secretary (Sekwan) to provide clarification on the procurement plan. He emphasized that the plan was still in the planning stage and no purchases had yet been made.

“I’ve already contacted the Regional Secretary to clarify the procurement of these items. Please be aware that everything is still in the planning stage; no purchases have been made yet,” Andie said on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).

Andie, who also serves as the Chairman of the South Sumatra All-Indonesia Billiards Sports Association (POBSI), explained that the plan to procure billiard tables was initially considered as an alternative facility for South Sumatran billiards athletes to train.

However, he acknowledged public concerns regarding the prioritization of regional budget use. He stated that every procurement plan must consider both urgency and the benefits it will generate.

“If it’s deemed not urgent or doesn’t provide significant benefits, the procurement can be reviewed or even canceled,” the Golkar Party politician emphasized. (mhn/ril)
