The General Election Commission of West Sumatra will immediately determine the elected regional head after the Constitutional Court decision

Padang, The Indonesia Post – The General Election Commission (KPU) of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) immediately appointed the elected regional head Mahyeldi Ansharullah with Audy Djoinaldy as the elected pair of Governor and Deputy Governor of West Sumatra after the refusal of two other candidate pairs by the Constitutional Court (MK) decision.

Chairman of the West Sumatra KPU, Yanuk Sri Mulyani in Padang, Monday, said that after the Constitutional Court’s decision was made, the West Sumatra KPU was preparing for the next stage, namely determining the elected candidate.

She said that according to the PKPU rules no later than five days after the copy of the MK decision was received by the KPU, a meeting to determine the elected candidate was held.

“We both know that the 2 lawsuits are unacceptable, so according to regulations we are preparing to determine the elected candidate,” She said.

She said the West Sumatra KPU will hold a meeting on Wednesday (17/2) to prepare a plenary meeting of the stipulations which are targeted for Thursday (18/2) or Friday (19/2).

“We will do the preparations tomorrow, but before that we have also prepared a scheme to deal with two possible results of the trial, namely to continue or finish. So we’ve talked about both, “she said.

She said this preparation also discussed who the parties would be invited to, where the plenary meeting was held and others. The West Sumatra KPU will determine the elected governor and deputy governor according to the majority vote of the recapitulation results in December 2020.

Previously, the West Sumatra KPU had completed the recapitulation of the vote count results for the West Sumatra Pilgub, on Sunday (20/12) and the results of the recapitulation of the Mahyeldi-Audy Joinaldy pair got the most votes, namely 32.43 percent of the votes or as many as 726,853 votes.

Previously, the Indonesian Constitutional Court decided not to accept the request of two candidate pairs for governor and deputy governor of West Sumatra and the General Election Commission (KPU) of West Sumatra has been able to determine the winner of the 2020 Pilkada. With this result, the trial was not continued for the next stage.

The verdict was read out in the hearing of the pronouncement of the decision and decision on the dispute over the results of the General Election (PHPU) for the West Sumatra Pilkada lawsuit today at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/2).

The lawsuit consisted of two candidate pairs for governor and deputy governor, namely serial number 1 Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni with case number 129 / PHP.GUB-XIX / 2021.

Then the candidate pair number 2 Nasrul Abit-Indra Catri with case number 128 / PHP.GUB-XIX / 2021. The trial was chaired by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman along with nine constitutional judges and broadcast online on the official youtube account of the Indonesian Constitutional Court.
