Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurated the 11.8 km Binjai Langsa Toll Road Section 1 Binjai-Stabat in Langsat, North Sumatra, Friday.
The President said the Binjai-Stabat Toll Road section is part of the 131 km Binjai-Langsa Toll Road.
“Alhamdulillah, today the Binjai-Langsa Section 1 Binjai-Stabat Toll Road section is 11.8 km long, thank God it is ready to be used to support smooth connectivity,” said the President in his remarks at the inauguration ceremony which was witnessed virtually in Jakarta, Friday.
The Head of State said that if it was completely completed, the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road would connect the Province of North Sumatra with the Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.
“And also be part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road which will connect from Lampung to Aceh,” he explained.
According to the President, national roads that are connected and connected between provinces will connect regional production centers that have great potential to be developed and open up new business opportunities, especially those around toll roads.
“I am sure that with the progress of this infrastructure, we will be able to develop the potential that exists in the region, be it agriculture, tourism, plantations, fisheries, and others,” said the President.
The President ordered that the infrastructure be used as well as possible to encourage new businesses, increase job opportunities, and improve the welfare of the community.
“I think that’s all I can say. By saying bismillahirohmanirohim, the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road Section 1 Binjai-Stabat this morning I inaugurated,” said the President.
The inauguration of the Binjai-Stabat Toll Road section was marked by the pressing of the siren button and the signing of the inscription.
The Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, on that occasion expressed his gratitude for the inauguration of the Binjai-Stabat Toll Road section.
He said previously people in Stabat needed 2.5 to 3 hours to get to Kualanamu Airport. However, with the Binjai-Stabat Toll Road section, the travel time to the airport is only one hour.
“And what’s more, those who get the blessing of this development are Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh to Langsa, when this road is in section 2, it only takes 1 hour and a half and a maximum of 2 hours. So far it takes up to 4 hours to 5 hours to get there. Kualanamu,” explained Edy.
