Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said policewomen or policewomen are one of the front lines to continue to win back the public’s trust for the establishment of the Bhayangkara Corps institution.
“I hope that fellow policewomen can really appear to show and encourage the public’s trust in the Police to return and their expectations can be higher than before,” said Sigit in a written statement received in Jakarta, Friday.
The National Police Chief conveyed this at the culmination and celebration of the 74th Anniversary of Policewomen at the Rupatama Building, Police Headquarters, South Jakarta.
The four-star general wants all policewomen to take a humanistic approach to regain public trust because since the events that occurred within the National Police have affected the level of public trust.
“I entrust all of this to my fellow policewomen as agents of change related to the cultural reforms in the Police,” said Sigit.
Based on the survey results, said the National Police Chief, the level of public trust in the National Police is gradually recovering, increasing, but not as high as the previous figure of 76 percent. The results of the latest survey, the level of public trust is 69.6 percent.
“In the last few days or weeks, there was a new survey, which was 69.6 percent. This means that this number is a number that we have to fight for because it concerns institutions and concerns the public’s trust in the Police,” he said.
The former Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police is optimistic that the role and approach of policewomen can be a force to regain the level of public trust.
According to Sigit, policewomen are like Srikandi in the puppet world. Srikandi is a woman who has the ability not inferior to a man, but still has a gentle and loving side. This character is one of the strengths of policewomen in carrying out their duties in the field.
“On the one hand, policewomen are able to carry out strict, but humanist law enforcement in accordance with the characteristics and character of policewomen. However, when carrying out their duties, colleagues have special characters that are certainly more prominent than polki (male police) and This is the strength that Polwan has,” said Sigit.
On that occasion, General Sigit mentioned the cultural reforms carried out by the National Police with two methods, namely the rules-based definition by absorbing and listening to the aspirations of the community. Then the value-based definition requires commitment and hard work for all Polri personnel to continue to instill the values of Tri Brata and Catur Prasetya, reminding each other to always do good.
“The National Police must remind each other. You can’t let your friends go astray and not be reminded. It’s a sin if you don’t remind your friends. What you see is starting to pay attention, it’s everyone’s duty to remind each other and this is to protect the Polri institution you love,” said the National Police Chief.
The former Banten Police Chief also reminded policewomen to continue to pay attention to global and national dynamics. At the international level, there is a threat of a food and energy crisis throughout the world including Indonesia due to the prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Then, policewomen must also prepare themselves to face challenges in the form of transnational crime models to hyper connectivity.
On the other hand, regarding the dynamics that occur in the country such as handling natural disasters, trauma healing to the implementation of the 2024 simultaneous elections, the National Police Chief emphasized that the role of policewomen is needed to keep the situation calm, safe and peaceful.
“Of course it needs touches because there is a potential for conflict if this is not handled properly and this can happen anywhere, and that’s where the role of the cooling system from policewomen is to be present and then have an important role to contribute to giving color to things like this,” said Sigit.
