Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called for the synergy between the Judicial Commission (KY) and the Supreme Court (MA) to be actively strengthened by both parties in order to maintain and uphold the honor, nobility and behavior of judges.
“The synergy between the Judicial Commission and the Supreme Court needs to be strengthened to maintain and uphold honor in order to maintain the nobility and behavior of judges, which is an important part of achieving the Advanced Indonesia we aspire to,” said Jokowi in a broadcast that was watched via the Judicial Commission’s official YouTube channel, Monday. .
The broadcast is part of President Jokowi’s direction which is shown in the series of submissions for the 2022 KY Annual Report.
The President reminded that as a partner of the Supreme Court, KY must continue to collaborate in order to guarantee legal certainty that is just and responds to people’s sense of justice.
Jokowi emphasized that the Government of Indonesia always supports every step taken in order to improve the quality of judicial services.
“We must actively record the complaints of the people, justice seekers, and take concrete steps to ensure a sense of justice,” he said.
The President appreciated the KY’s hard work in protecting the quality of the judicial world, including through the open submission of annual reports to the public.
“The role of the Judicial Commission in judicial reform is very important to carry out an independent external oversight function so that the judicial power prioritizes judicial accountability,” said Jokowi.
Meanwhile, KY Chairman Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata revealed that the institution he leads was recorded as having received 2,925 public reports regarding alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Judges’ Code of Conduct (KEPPH) throughout 2022.
Of this amount, he said, 1,662 reports were submitted directly by the public to KY, while the other 1,263 were in the form of copy letters.
DKI Jakarta is the province with the highest number of KEPPH violation reports to the KY throughout 2022, namely 316 reports, followed by East Java with 181 reports, and North Sumatra with 159 reports. (mhn/bbs)
