Surabaya, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa ensured that centralized isolation facilities (isoters) for the Greater Surabaya area (Surabaya, Gresik and Sidoarjo) were ready to be used by COVID-19 patients.
The isoter for the Surabaya area is centered in the Haji Sukolilo Dormitory and the Surabaya Shooting Field Emergency Hospital, the isoter for Sidoarjo is centered in the Sidoarjo Public Service Mall and the isoter for Gresik is centered in seven Public Health Centre (Puskesmas).
Khofifah said all of the prepared isoters were in good and proper condition. Especially for Hajj Dormitory isoters, all facilities, from beds, bathrooms, to health workers have been prepared as well as possible.
The total available rooms at the Haji Sukolilo Dormitory reach 432 rooms filled with 3 beds and 1 bathroom in one room. Currently, 204 rooms have been filled. Each room will be filled with patients with mild and asymptomatic symptoms.
Meanwhile, the number of available beds at the Shooting Field Hospital is 187, consisting of 88 beds in building B1, 89 beds in building B2, and 10 beds in the ER. This hospital is still not occupied by patients, but there are 40 Task Force people who are already preparing.
“This is a really cool place. The service is also very well prepared and ready for reactivation. With this, we hope to be able to help the recovery process and keep patients in good condition,” she said while visiting Isoter at the Haji Sukolilo Dormitory, Monday (7/2/2022).
Khofifah said that patients with confirmed COVID-19 with mild or asymptomatic symptoms could switch to an isoter that had been prepared by the government.
This step is to reduce the burden on referral hospitals that focus on patients with moderate and severe symptoms.
“This is quite comfortable, so for the people of Greater Surabaya with mild or no symptoms, don’t come to the hospital but come to these isoters. Because in isoters, “The patient’s condition can be better controlled so that if the symptoms increase, they can be immediately referred to the nearest hospital,” she asked.
On this occasion, Khofifah also asked the district/city governments to prepare for a surge in COVID-19 cases which is estimated to fall in the third week of March.
Khofifah advised the government to continue to improve testing, tracing, and treatment (3T) as well as other curative services.
“As predicted by the Ministry of Health that March 22 will be the peak of the spike in COVID-19 for all variants. So the government’s task is to increase 3T. In addition, there are 3 other things that must be prepared. Namely, hospital readiness, isoters, and volunteerism for PPKM Micro and strong villages,” she explained.
Furthermore, Khofifah asked the public to work together to break the chain of spread of COVID-19 by strictly implementing health protocols by continuing to wear masks, wash hands, maintain a safe distance, avoid crowds, and limit mobilization (5M).
“The government has tried its best for curative services. So, I ask for community synergy to take preventive action by continuing to apply 5M so that agglomeration areas such as Malang Raya and Greater Surabaya are protected from spikes in cases. So that all areas are also expected to be safely under control,” she said.
