Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Gde Sumarjaya Linggih said Bali needed a leader like President Joko Widodo who was able to fix one of the crucial issues in Bali, namely the disparity in regional growth between South Bali and North Bali.
According to Gde Sumarjaya Linggih, who is familiarly called Demer, based on information received in Jakarta, Saturday, if there is no leader who is able to balance this inequality, the issue of the prices of people’s needs being too high in South Bali and high unemployment in North Bali due to the focus low regional development will continue to occur.
“For that, Bali needs a leader who is able to see and execute it. We want a leader like Jokowi in Bali,” said Demer when speaking at the Bali Political and Economic Discussion with the United States Consulate General in Bali.
Furthermore, according to him, the current leader in Bali should be able to firmly move the provincial center to areas with low growth rates. Thus, said Demer, there will be a balance of development in Bali.
This Golkar legislator said that his attitude towards criticizing the leaders in Bali had a constructive purpose for the benefit of the people.
“I have to be critical because this is for the benefit of many people. Actually, they should be grateful because if I am critical it is for a constructive purpose, for a better cause,” said Demer.
If the leaders in Bali are able to study and encourage the emergence of a balanced growth in their regions, Demer believes that this too will be an achievement for them.
“Actually, if this is studied properly and not based on likes or dislikes, it might be an achievement for himself as a leader,” he said.
Demer also said that Eastern Indonesia is indeed an area that is still lagging behind, both in terms of development, economy, and infrastructure.
The eastern regions of Indonesia include Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara and Papua. (mhn/bbs)
