President urges regions to accelerate realization of regional budget spending

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo encourages local governments (Pemda) to accelerate the realization of their respective Regional Budget (APBD) expenditures, which according to their latest review, only reached 39.3 percent.

“To this day, regional expenditures and APBD expenditures are only 39.3 percent; be careful, this is only Rp.472 trillion. In fact, this is very important for what is called the circulation of money in the region, growth in the region; the name of this APBD is immediately issued so that it circulates. in the community. This is very important,” the President said in his direction when opening the 2022 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for Inflation Control at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday.

The National Coordination Meeting for Inflation Control, apart from being attended by ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, was also attended by regional heads online.

Jokowi reminded that the realization of APBD spending is important to spur economic growth in the regions. He also highlighted that there are still idle APBD money in the bank amounting to Rp. 193 trillion.

“I check the APBD at the bank. Small things like this I have to check and I have to know how much APBD money is in the bank. It’s still Rp. 193 trillion. It’s very big.

He also reminded all elements of government to no longer work with mediocre standard routines in the midst of a global crisis. The difficult global condition, according to Jokowi, was caused by the challenges of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, which was followed by a war and geopolitical situation that led to food, energy and financial crises.

“We can’t do standard work, we can’t anymore, because the situation is not normal. We can’t work routinely, because the situation is not normal,” said the President.

He asked government officials to work not only on macro aspects, but also on micro aspects, even in detail through numbers and data. This performance is important in an effort to suppress the inflation rate which reached 4.94 percent in July 2022 (yoy), mainly due to the food group inflation fluctuation of 11.47 percent (yoy).

The national inflation rate is higher than the inflation target of 3 percent +/- 1 percent. (mhn/bbs)
