Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto praised the support of the Government of Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for the largest defense sector in history.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Defense after the handover procession of the C-130J-30 Super Hercules A-1339 Air Force aircraft to the TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base (Air Force Base), Jakarta, Wednesday.
“I see the support from Pak Jokowi’s government in history for defense is the biggest,” Prabowo told media crew.
The Super Hercules aircraft is one form of President Jokowi’s government’s great support for the defense sector.
He said Indonesia as a whole had agreed to a contract to procure five C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft until January 2024.
In addition to the one unit of aircraft that was just handed over by the Minister of Defense to the TNI Commander, four more similar aircraft will arrive in June, July and October 2023, and January 2024.
Despite showing great support, the Minister of Defense understands that the government and President Jokowi have priority programs, especially in handling COVID-19 which has affected the defense budget in recent years.
“He has priorities. Yesterday we experienced a very dangerous COVID-19, so our priority is to prioritize the safety of the people,” said Prabowo.
For information, the Defense Budget in the 2023 National Budget (APBN) reaches IDR 134.3 trillion with details of an allocation of IDR 55.6 trillion for the Army (AD), IDR 23.7 trillion for the Navy (AL), IDR 23.5 trillion for the Ministry of Defense, IDR 19.2 trillion for the TNI.
