Village Funds can control village inflation

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Mendes PDTT) Abdul Halim Iskandar assessed that the Village Fund could control the inflation rate at the village level.

“The existence of the Village Fund in controlling inflation is to contain the increase in the price of goods and services in villages by accelerating the production of commodities, especially food, in order to prevent the impact of inflation and to maintain the purchasing power of villagers,” he said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He emphasized that the Village Fund must be used to support the acceleration of food commodity production in order to create prosperity and prosperity in the village.

Thus, he continued, people’s purchasing power continues to increase and prices of basic necessities are stable.

He said the use of the Village Fund to accelerate food production must be done through an empowerment approach so that village communities have sufficient ability to meet food needs in the village independently.

“The Village Fund is expected to be able to support activities starting from production, providing land and supporting infrastructure, processing and marketing,” he said while attending the Virtual Meeting of Regional Inflation Control Coordination with the material “Synchronizing Regional Inflation Control Programs/Activities in accordance with the Tasks and Each Function Ministry”.

He gave an example if the Village Fund is used for infrastructure development, it must lead to poverty alleviation and community economic empowerment, so that inflation in the village is maintained.

Therefore, Mendes Abdul Halim requires that all procurement of goods and services for infrastructure must be carried out independently by the village.

“This means that in the procurement of goods and services, the village government is obliged to maximize the use of materials or materials from the local village,” he said.

In the implementation of the work, he said, it must also work together and involve the local village community to create jobs and empower village communities.

“The goal is that the Village Fund will be more and longer circulated in the village as well as expand employment opportunities and empower rural communities,” he said.

Thus, he continued, the Village Fund will succeed in supporting village economic empowerment and economic independence for the poor and extreme poor.

With economic independence, he said, it would be easy for the rural poor to get access to credit for small and micro businesses to strengthen their economic income.

“Giving access to rural residents, especially the poor and extreme poor, to small and micro-enterprise loans in order to have an impact on their independent economic income,” he said. (ojn/bbs)
